Since opening its slopes for the first time on Dec. 16, 1961, the resort has paved the way for innovation, access and high alpine adventure across its Five Peaks, from being on the forefront of new lift technology and installing the world’s first high-speed quad; to being the first major Colorado resort to welcome snowboarders in 1984; to providing unrivaled access to signature high alpine terrain with the introduction of the T-Bar, the Imperial Express, and the opening of Peak 6 in 2013. While the resort has continued to grow and evolve over the decades with new lifts, new peaks, new experiences and beyond, guests can still find the same energy, sense of adventure and spirit of community that draws people in from near and far to Breck. With nearly 3,000 acres, North America’s highest chairlift and some of the country’s best High Alpine terrain, Breckenridge, affectionately known as ‘Breck’ to locals and visitors alike, is a historic mining town and vibrant mountain community that boasts a serious dose of high alpine adventure, natural beauty and ski town charm.

Bill Healy, a former Army 10th Mountain Division member, founded Mt. Bachelor Ski Area (then known as Bachelor Butte ski area) December 19, 1958, with a rope tow and a single lift. Mt. Bachelor has since grown to be the 6th largest ski resort in the U.S. The resort, located on the Eastern side of the Cascades, boasts a wide variety of terrain with over 4,300 acres of lift accessible terrain, allowing guests to ski or ride 360 degrees off the summit, hike the adjoining cinder cone for a well-earned run down, or ski the trees off the western bowls to find that great cache of powder. Add to that the incredible town of Bend, with the most breweries per capita in the state of Oregon plus distilleries, wineries, restaurants and shopping, and you have the perfect combination for an amazing ski vacation!

When Snowmass director of skiing Stein Eriksen loaded the first chairlift on December 16, 1967, all eyes were on Snowmass-at-Aspen, then the country’s largest and most complete winter resort. Former Olympic ski racer Bill Janss had spent the previous nine years buying up ranches in the pastoral Brush Creek Valley for the project, spurred by a tip from his friend, a local ski instructor who had searched the state and realized that the slopes of Baldy Mountain were ideal for skiing. Public and private snowcat ski tours confirmed this, generating nationwide buzz for the deep powder and endless vertical.
Now with over 95% of lodging located ski in/ski out and 3,300 acres of winter adventure, Snowmass offers burly steeps, inviting glades, and endless bumps, jumps, and groomers. You’ll be challenged to ski it all in a week—or a full season. And it's just one of four ski areas included in your lift ticket or pass. Don't forget to visit Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk during your stay...the ski shuttle is free!
